Hadestown received its World Premiere at the New York Theatre Workshop on May 23, 2016.

Hadestown received its Canadian Premiere at the Citadel Theatre on November 16, 2017.

Hadestown opened on Broadway at the Walter Kerr Theatre on April 17, 2019.

Hadestown received its UK Premiere at the National Theatre on November 13, 2018.

Hadestown was developed with funding from the Eli and Edythe Broad Stage at the Santa Monica College Performing Arts Center.
Additional development by New York Stage and Film and The Ground Floor at Berkeley Repertory Theatre.

Hadestown was co-conceived by Ben t. Matchstick.
